Thu Nov 07 09:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Reliance Power Banned From SECI Tenders for Three Years Over Fake Documents

**New Delhi:** In a major setback for Reliance Power’s green energy aspirations, the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has barred the Anil Ambani-led company, its subsidiaries, and Reliance NU BESS Ltd from participating in its tenders for the next three years. This decision comes after an investigation revealed the submission of alleged fake documents by Reliance Power companies in a June tender for 1000 MW/2000 MWh standalone BESS projects.

The investigation, triggered by the cancellation of the tender, discovered that the bank guarantee submitted by Reliance NU BESS Ltd, a subsidiary of Reliance Power, was forged. This guarantee, provided by a foreign bank, was used to fulfill the financial requirements outlined in the tender. SECI concluded that the bidder’s decisions were ultimately driven by its parent company, Reliance Power.

The ban highlights the seriousness with which SECI is taking such fraudulent activities. The state-owned company, which is responsible for tendering renewable energy projects in India, expects to tender 20 GW of projects in the current fiscal year, aiming for a total of 50 GW annually until FY28.

Reliance Power, which boasts a 5,300-megawatt portfolio across coal, gas, hydro, and renewable energy sectors, did not respond to requests for comment. The development comes shortly after Reliance Power subsidiary Rosa Power Supply Company announced the prepayment of a ₹485 crore loan to Varde Partners, achieving a zero-debt status.
