**Chennai, India:** Renowned actor Kamal Haasan celebrated his 70th birthday on Wednesday, and daughter Shruti Haasan took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message.
Accompanying a black and white picture of herself with her father, Shruti wrote, “Happy birthday Appa. You are a rare gem. One of my favorite things in life is walking alongside you. I know you don’t believe in God, but you are God’s chosen child. I watch every incredible thing you do with such awe. May we have many more birthdays to celebrate and many more dreams to chase in life. Love you loads Papa”.
Kamal Haasan, affectionately known as ‘Ulaganayagan’ (World Leader), is a versatile artist who has shone as an actor, director, screenwriter, and producer. His career started with a Presidential Gold Medal for Best Child Artist and he has astounded audiences by playing ten characters in a single film. His contributions to the film industry span over six decades.
Besides his acting career, he also ventured into politics, forming the Makkal Neethi Maiyam party, but did not achieve widespread popularity.
Kamal Haasan has two daughters, Shruti and Akshara, with his ex-wife Sarika. The couple, who married in 1988, separated in 2004. Kamal Haasan’s first wife was dancer Vani Ganapathi, whom he married in 1978. Their marriage lasted for ten years.
