**New Delhi, November 6, 2024:** A Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus driver lost control of his vehicle on Ring Road near Monastery Market in the Civil Lines area on Monday night, resulting in the death of two individuals, including a police constable.
The bus, which was empty at the time of the accident, veered off the road due to technical issues, climbing onto the pavement and colliding with a billboard before striking the two victims. It finally came to a stop after hitting a road divider.
The deceased constable was identified as Victor, 27, a resident of Nagaland, who was on night patrolling duty. He was riding a PCR motorcycle when the bus hit him. The other victim, Satyapriya, 23, was a resident of Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh, and was studying engineering in Kanpur. He had come to Delhi for shopping.
Both victims were pronounced dead at Parmanand Hospital in Civil Lines. Victor sustained multiple injuries to his head, neck, and face.
The bus driver, Vinod Kumar (57), who has been driving for DTC since 2010, was apprehended by police and is currently in custody. He sustained no injuries in the incident.
The police are investigating the cause of the accident and have taken the bus into custody for examination.
