Tue Nov 05 19:49:28 UTC 2024: ## CBI Ordered to Preserve Evidence in IAS Aspirant Drowning Case

**New Delhi, November 6, 2024:** The Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to submit a status report on its investigation into the drowning deaths of three Civil Services aspirants in a coaching center basement in July.

The order came in response to a plea filed by J. Dalvin Suresh, father of Nevin Dalvin, one of the victims. Suresh requested the court to compel the CBI to preserve all CCTV footage and satellite images collected during their investigation.

The incident occurred on July 27th at Rau’s IAS Study Circle in Old Rajinder Nagar when the basement flooded with rainwater, leading to the deaths of Shreya Yadav (25, Uttar Pradesh), Tanya Soni (25, Telangana), and Nevin Dalvin (24, Kerala).

The High Court, recognizing the gravity of the situation, transferred the investigation from Delhi police to the CBI on August 2nd. On September 13th, the court granted interim bail to the four co-owners of the building’s basement.

The CBI assured the court that they had already preserved the relevant CCTV footage. The court’s order emphasizes the importance of preserving all evidence related to the case, underscoring the need for a thorough and impartial investigation into the tragedy.
