**New York** – According to polling expert Nate Silver, voter turnout will be the deciding factor in the close presidential race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.
In his Substack publication, Silver Bulletin, Silver highlights the importance of voter turnout, particularly whether Trump can mobilize his less reliable supporters. He anticipates a national turnout of roughly 155 million voters, slightly lower than the record-breaking turnout in 2020 but significantly higher than 2016.
Silver emphasizes the role of voter enthusiasm, particularly in key battleground states where demographic shifts and voting patterns can influence turnout. He notes that Democrats could benefit from lower overall turnout as it would limit the impact of Trump’s more volatile voter base.
Silver’s models show a slight advantage for Trump, with his winning odds at 53.4% compared to Harris’ 46.2%. This prediction aligns with other models, such as Real Clear Politics, which projects a near landslide victory for Trump, securing 312 electoral votes to Harris’ 227.
The race remains highly competitive, with voter enthusiasm and turnout likely to play a crucial role in determining the outcome.
