Tue Nov 05 19:47:01 UTC 2024: ## VCK Demands Commission to Review Tamil Nadu’s Internal Reservation System
**Chennai, November 6, 2024:** The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) has called for the establishment of a commission to review Tamil Nadu’s internal reservation system, citing data-based analysis published in The Hindu. VCK general secretary D. Ravikumar, in a statement on social media, argued that the Supreme Court’s verdict permitting states to sub-categorize the Scheduled Caste (SC) list has been “a significant mistake.”
Mr. Ravikumar cited the report’s findings, which revealed no significant disparity in educational levels between Adi Dravidars, Devendrakula Vellalars, and other SC communities like Arundhathiyars. Further, the analysis indicated that Arundhathiyars possess more assets than Adi Dravidars and Devendrakula Vellalars, with higher income levels and lower poverty rates.
Based on these findings, the VCK leader urged Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to create a commission to evaluate the current internal reservation system and propose necessary changes. He believes that the data suggests a need for reassessment of the system’s effectiveness in achieving equitable benefits for all SC communities.
