Tue Nov 05 11:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Rich Shertenlieb Show on WZLX Cancelled After Just Five Months
**Boston, MA** – The Rich Shertenlieb Show on 100.7 WZLX has been canceled after just five months on air. The announcement was made by Shertenlieb himself on Monday afternoon, citing disagreements with iHeartMedia’s programming direction.
Shertenlieb, known for his successful run on 98.5 The Sports Hub, launched the sports talk show in May with a team of co-hosts including Michael Hurley and Ted Johnson. While initially focusing on sports, management shifted the show’s format to include more music, a decision Shertenlieb disagreed with.
“We would take the months of Summer to build chemistry with the new cast and by Fall and football season, we would be close to sounding what our vision of the show would be,” wrote Shertenlieb in a statement. “However, just over two months into the show, management decided to alter the format…They wanted music, I did not. Despite my disagreement, I agreed to move forward and music was added.”
Despite the format change and low ratings, Shertenlieb expressed pride in the team he assembled and the show’s growing fanbase. “I’ve never been part of that much growth, ever,” he added. “But the thing that I am the most proud of is the team that I helped put together for the show…This was THE team. If I could work with all of them the rest of my career, I would die happy. I love all of these guys.”
The cancellation comes after months of change for the morning show on WZLX, following the unexpected death of co-host Kevin Karlson. This latest development leaves the station searching for a new morning show format.
