**New Delhi, November 5, 2024:** A Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus, operating on the Sarai Kale Khan to Nand Nagari route, ran off the road near the Monastery Market on Monday night, killing a Delhi Police constable and another unidentified man.
The bus, which was empty except for a DTC duty officer, reportedly suffered a technical fault around 10:38 pm. The vehicle swerved off the road, crashed into a billboard pole and mounted the pavement before coming to a stop after hitting a road divider.
Constable Victor (27), who was on night patrol duty, was hit by the bus while riding his motorcycle. He was declared dead at Parmanand Hospital, having sustained severe injuries to his head, neck, and face. The other deceased man, whose identity is still unknown, was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
The bus driver, Vinod Kumar (57), has been arrested. Police are investigating the incident and have impounded the bus. Constable Victor was stationed at the Civil Lines police station since June 2023.
