Tue Nov 05 15:15:14 UTC 2024: ## Congress Accuses Modi of Lowering Discourse in Jharkhand Election Campaign

**New Delhi, November 5, 2024:** The Congress party has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of resorting to “cheap villain” tactics during the ongoing Assembly elections in Jharkhand, claiming that it is a sign of the BJP’s impending defeat.

The accusations come in response to PM Modi’s recent attacks on the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) led coalition government, labelling it an “infiltrators’ alliance” for allegedly supporting Bangladeshi migrants.

Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera condemned the PM’s language, stating that it was unbecoming of the office he holds. Khera pointed out the irony of Modi criticizing the coalition government for border security when the Home Ministry, responsible for it, is under his own control.

In a separate statement, Congress communications chief Jairam Ramesh accused the BJP of favoring the Adani Group in Jharkhand, alleging that the group was granted special favors in setting up a coal power plant, despite widespread complaints of forceful land acquisition and intimidation of local farmers.

The Congress has positioned the Jharkhand elections as a battle between a people-centric government and one that caters to the whims of the Prime Minister and his associates.
