**New Delhi, November 5, 2024:** Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener and former Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, announced on Monday that the Delhi government will soon begin distributing a monthly stipend of ₹1,000 to women over the age of 18.
The scheme, dubbed “Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana”, was first unveiled during the 2024-25 budget presentation. Kejriwal made the announcement during a padyatra (foot march) in the city’s Model Town and Timarpur areas.
During the padyatra, Kejriwal also emphasized the AAP’s commitment to providing high-quality public services. He accused Lieutenant-Governor V.K. Saxena and the BJP of obstructing several welfare programmes, questioning why Saxena did not ensure efficient governance during Kejriwal’s absence while in jail.
Kejriwal further accused the BJP of opposing the financial assistance scheme, stating, “They criticize free electricity, water, education, and healthcare, claiming I am wasting money. But I am spending it on people, not stealing it from them.”
