**Panaji, Goa:** Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has strongly condemned the attack on a Hindu temple in Canada, calling it an “unacceptable assault” on peace and unity. The incident occurred on Sunday in Brampton, where protestors carrying Khalistani flags clashed with people at the Hindu Sabha temple, disrupting a consular event.
CM Sawant urged the Canadian government to take immediate action to ensure the safety of all religious communities within its borders. He stated, “The recent, targeted attack on the Hindu temple and its devotees is not only deeply concerning but also entirely unacceptable. Such incidents represent a direct assault on the values of peace, respect and unity that form the foundation of any civilised society.”
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also condemned the attack, calling for the Indian government to intervene and prevent future incidents. “I strongly condemn the incident,” he stated. “I also demand from the Government of India to speak to the Canadian government over this issue in order to prevent such incidents in the future.”
This incident comes amid strained India-Canada relations over alleged Canadian support for Khalistani separatists and accusations of Indian involvement in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Canadian citizen designated a terrorist by India.
