Mon Nov 04 07:47:18 UTC 2024: ## Pakistan’s Kamran Ghulam Ends Debut ODI In Style After Comical Exchange with Cummins

Melbourne, Australia – Pakistan’s Kamran Ghulam, making his ODI debut after a solitary concussion substitute appearance in 2023, had a memorable, albeit short-lived, innings in the first ODI against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The 29-year-old batsman, fresh off a century on his Test debut against England, was involved in a light-hearted exchange with Australian captain Pat Cummins. Ghulam, mimicking Steve Smith’s trademark “no run” gesture, drew a laugh from Cummins after defending a delivery back to the bowler.

However, Cummins responded in the next delivery, bowling a blistering 142.7 kmph bouncer that whizzed past Ghulam’s nose. The young batsman, attempting to evade the delivery, deflected it to wicketkeeper Josh Inglis, ending his innings with just 5 runs off 6 balls.

The incident, captured on camera, quickly went viral, with fans on social media debating whether Cummins’ bouncer was intentional or just a hot delivery.

At the time of writing, Pakistan are struggling at 172/7 in 41 overs, with the bowlers hoping to defend a respectable total.
