Mon Nov 04 10:49:23 UTC 2024: ## Norris Blames Mistakes and Bad Luck for Brazilian GP Disappointment

**Sao Paulo, Brazil:** Lando Norris, starting from pole position, finished a disappointing sixth in the Brazilian Grand Prix, after a series of errors and misfortune hampered his race. The McLaren driver saw his championship hopes take a hit as Max Verstappen, starting 17th, stormed to victory and closed in on his fourth consecutive title.

Norris, who won Saturday’s sprint race, was 44 points behind Verstappen in the championship standings before the race. Now, with three Grands Prix and one sprint race remaining, he finds himself 62 points adrift. Verstappen can clinch the title if he finishes ahead of Norris at the Las Vegas Grand Prix on November 24th.

Norris attributed his poor performance to a series of unfortunate events, including a strategic gamble by McLaren that backfired, as well as his own mistakes. He acknowledged that he made errors against both George Russell and Charles Leclerc, losing valuable positions.

“It was a difficult day,” said Norris. “I made a couple of mistakes that cost me. It was about time something didn’t go right.”

He also expressed frustration over a questionable decision by the race stewards, who investigated him for leading into a formation lap without waiting for a green light.

Despite his own shortcomings, Norris acknowledged Verstappen’s impressive performance, calling it a “lucky” win. He also noted that George Russell had a strong race and perhaps deserved the victory.

“He drove well,” Norris said of Verstappen. “George probably felt like he won the race today and he probably deserved to win the race more than anyone else did, but sometimes it’s just unlucky and the rules go against you.”

Norris’s disappointing result leaves him with a steep uphill climb in the championship fight, with Verstappen poised to claim the title in the upcoming races.
