**Hyderabad:** The Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) notification is set to be released on Monday, according to the School Education Department. The government has announced that the TET will be conducted twice a year, with the second exam scheduled for January.

The first TET for the current year was held online from May 20 to June 2, with over 2.35 lakh candidates appearing and 1.09 lakh passing. The notification for the upcoming exam is expected to be released on Monday, with the exam likely to be held online in January.

This time, the number of candidates is expected to be slightly lower due to the completion of the District Selection Committee (DSC) process. The online format necessitates a week to 10 days of slots for the exam, leading to speculation on the exact dates, which are yet to be confirmed.

The TET is mandatory for candidates seeking to become teachers in the state. Both Paper-1 and Paper-2 require eligibility criteria of Diploma in Education (D.Ed.) and Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.), respectively. In-service teachers, who are looking for promotions to School Assistant positions, must also clear the TET.

This will be the 10th TET conducted since the test was introduced. The last exam was held in May and was the sixth conducted after the formation of Telangana. This upcoming exam will be the second TET conducted within a year by the current Congress government.
