Mon Nov 04 14:29:27 UTC 2024: ## Erode Corporation Seeks Consultant for Central Bus Terminal Redevelopment
**Erode, November 4, 2024:** The Erode Corporation has announced plans to appoint a consultant to prepare a detailed feasibility report (DFR) and provide transaction advisory services for the redevelopment of its Central Bus Terminal on Mettur Road. The terminal, established in 1973, serves over one lakh commuters daily with over 4,100 buses operating from its premises.
The redevelopment project, part of the Smart City Mission, aims to optimize the existing 9.40-acre space and enhance the terminal’s functionality. The consultant will focus on three key areas:
* **Commercial Development:** Exploring opportunities for land monetization, commercial initiatives, retail development, and warehousing.
* **Transport:** Improving the urban transportation system, optimizing bus terminal operations, and assessing the feasibility of multi-level parking facilities.
* **Transaction Advisory:** Providing comprehensive guidance on implementing projects under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
A senior corporation engineer highlighted that the feasibility study aims to utilize vacant space and effectively utilize available space for commercial purposes, generating revenue for the civic body. The study will focus on creating necessary infrastructure and maximizing the potential of the bus terminal.
The engineer emphasized that this is merely a feasibility study, and a final decision on project implementation will be made by the government after receiving the consultant’s report. The last date for submitting tender documents is November 29, and tenders will be opened online at 3.30 p.m. on the same day at the Corporation office.
