**Vijayawada, November 3, 2024** – The NTR Commissionerate police have launched a successful crackdown on illegal cockfight knife manufacturers in the district, seizing over 1,120 knives and arresting 17 individuals.
In a series of surprise raids conducted across villages under Vissannapeta, G. Konduru, Reddigudem, and Tiruvuru police station limits, officers found and confiscated raw materials, lathe machines, cutters, and other equipment used in the production of these weapons.
Deputy Commissioner of Police K.M. Maheswara Raju stated that the raids were carried out under the direct instruction of Police Commissioner S.V. Rajashekar Babu. “The investigation revealed that the manufacturers were supplying the knives to cockfight organisers not only in NTR but also in Eluru and Krishna districts,” added Mr. Raju.
The operation involved a combined effort from Assistant Commissioner of Police Y. Prasad Rao, Circle Inspectors D. Chandrashekar and K. Giri Babu, and other officers.
The police have registered 16 cases against the accused individuals and are continuing their investigation to dismantle the illegal network and prevent the use of these weapons in the cruel and illegal practice of cockfighting.
