Sat Nov 02 03:14:10 UTC 2024: ## Trump Still a Favorite Among Israelis, Despite US Election Looming

**Shiloh, Israel -** With less than a week until the US presidential election, a strong wave of support for former President Donald Trump is evident among Israelis, particularly those in settlements in the West Bank.

Recent polls indicate that a majority of Israelis, 66% according to Channel 12 News, favor Trump’s return to the White House. This support stems from Trump’s pro-Israel policies during his previous term, including moving the US embassy to Jerusalem, recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, and facilitating the Abraham Accords, which normalized relations between Israel and several Arab states.

Many Israelis believe Trump will continue to champion their interests, particularly in the face of escalating tensions with Iran-backed groups in Gaza and Lebanon. Residents of settlements like Eli, located deep within the West Bank, express strong support for Trump, citing his unwavering backing of Israel’s right to defend itself against perceived threats.

“We thank the United States, our greatest ally, but please understand we know how to run our country,” said Eliana Passentin, a long-time resident of Eli, echoing the sentiment shared by many in the settlements. She believes that Trump understands the importance of Israel’s security and won’t pressure them into compromises that would weaken their position.

Gedaliah Blum, a resident of Shiloh, another West Bank settlement, also voices concerns about potential US pressure under a Democratic administration. He believes that a Biden-Harris administration would impose sanctions and pressure Israel to negotiate with Hamas and Hezbollah, jeopardizing their security.

The support for Trump among Israelis extends beyond the settlements. Yisrael Medad, a Shiloh resident and US citizen, believes Trump would be beneficial for both America and its allies, including Israel. He highlights Trump’s stance on Israel’s right to defend itself, both physically and ideologically, in contrast to what he perceives as a lack of support from the Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris.

This strong showing of support for Trump among Israelis underscores the significant influence his policies have had on the region. While the outcome of the US election remains uncertain, it is clear that Trump’s legacy, particularly regarding Israel, continues to resonate strongly among Israelis.
