Hyderabad: Stand-up comedian and businessman Utsav Dixit has been arrested for crashing his Porsche into the boundary wall of KBR Park in Banjara Hills on Friday morning. The 33-year-old, a resident of Banjara Hills, fled the scene after the accident, leaving behind significant damage to the park’s infrastructure, including the wall, grills, and pavement.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police S. Venkat Reddy, the preliminary investigation revealed that the collision occurred due to reckless driving, resulting in the loss of control of the vehicle. The incident was reported around 5.45 a.m. after a citizen’s call to Dial 100 alerted the police.
Upon arrival, police found a damaged red-colored Porsche with a broken number plate, which led them to identify Dixit as the driver. He was traced and arrested based on available evidence and subjected to alcohol and drug tests as per legal provisions.
Dixit has been booked under various sections, including attempt to commit culpable homicide, rash driving, penalties for driving dangerously, and mischief causing damage to public property. The police have also seized his driving license and sent it to the Road Transport Official for disqualification.
The incident has sparked outrage in the city, with many calling for stricter penalties against reckless driving. The police have assured that legal procedures will be followed to address the property damage and the alleged violations by Dixit.
