Sat Nov 02 17:08:27 UTC 2024: ## Uddhav Thackeray Kicks Off Maharashtra Campaign Targeting Shinde Rebel MLAs

**Mumbai, November 2, 2024:** Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray is set to launch his campaign for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections on November 5, focusing on constituencies held by MLAs who participated in the 2022 rebellion led by current Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Thackeray will begin his campaign trail in Konkan and Vidarbha, addressing a rally in Ratnagiri on November 5. This seat is currently represented by State Industries Minister Uday Samant. Thackeray will also campaign in the neighboring Rajapur constituency for Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Rajan Salvi.

On November 6, Thackeray will target Bhiwandi Rural, a constituency represented by Shantaram More, one of the 40 MLAs who rebelled against Thackeray. This constituency lies in Thane district, the home turf of CM Shinde. The same day, Thackeray will participate in the Maha Vikas Aghadi’s rally at Bandra Kurla Complex alongside Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar.

Thackeray will then head to Vidarbha, campaigning in Daryapur on November 7, where Abhijit Adsul, son of Shinde-led Shiv Sena leader Anand Adsul, is contesting. He will also campaign for Sunil Kharate, the party’s candidate from Badnera, the constituency of MLA Ravi Rana, a BJP ally who had previously threatened Thackeray.

On November 8, Thackeray will campaign in Buldhana and Mehkar, both represented by MLAs who participated in the 2022 rebellion. He will also campaign in Partur for party candidate Asaram Borade, who is pitted against BJP’s sitting MLA Babanrao Lonikar.

The Shiv Sena split in June 2022 after Shinde led a rebellion, bringing down the MVA government led by Thackeray. The Election Commission subsequently granted the party name and its “bow and arrow” symbol to the faction led by Shinde. Thackeray’s faction is now known as the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray).

The Maharashtra Assembly elections will be held on November 20, with results declared on November 23.
