Sat Nov 02 07:50:00 UTC 2024: ## India Leads After Tense Day 2 in Mumbai Test

**Mumbai, India:** India took control on day two of the third and final Test against New Zealand in Mumbai, extending their lead to 28 runs despite a late fightback by the Kiwis.

The day began with New Zealand resuming on 235/5, eventually reaching 235 all out. India then began their innings, losing early wickets but finding momentum with a strong partnership between Shubman Gill (90) and Rishabh Pant (60). Gill, who fell agonizingly short of a century, and Pant both scored half-centuries and laid the foundation for a strong total.

India’s innings ended at 263, giving them a 28-run lead. New Zealand then faced a challenging task of chasing down the target, losing early wickets. Devon Conway (22) and Tom Latham (0) were the early casualties as Ashwin and Akashdeep impressed with the ball.

The Kiwis rallied, however, with Will Young (36) and Daryl Mitchell (21) putting up a decent fight. The pair added 42 runs for the fourth wicket before being separated by Ravindra Jadeja.

Despite the late resistance, New Zealand finished the day on 88/3, still trailing India by 28 runs.

India will be looking to capitalise on their advantage on day three, hoping to wrap up the match and clinch the series.
