**Kozhikode, November 2, 2024:** The Malabar Subsection of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), in collaboration with the IEEE Kerala Section, held a professional engagement program on Saturday, aimed at empowering professionals to contribute to societal advancement through volunteering and industry collaborations.
The program’s keynote speaker, Kozhikode Assistant Collector Ayush Goyal, highlighted the crucial role of the IEEE community in tackling pressing social issues. He emphasized the organization’s potential to leverage its technological expertise and commitment to innovation to address critical challenges facing Kozhikode district, particularly in transportation, sanitation, and access to clean water.
“The IEEE community can be instrumental in improving the quality of life in our district by developing practical and sustainable solutions for these social issues,” said Mr. Goyal.
Sessions led by industry experts Jayakrishnan M C, COO of InApp, and Sudhi Sudharman from Tata Elxsi focused on harnessing technology for societal benefits, fostering collaboration between academia and industry, and expanding the volunteer base to amplify IEEE’s contributions in Kerala.
Dr. Sameer S. M., the IEEE Region 10 director-elect 2025-26, who was honored at the event, expressed his gratitude to the IEEE Malabar Subsection and Kerala Section for their support. He outlined his vision to cultivate a culture of volunteerism and knowledge sharing across IEEE Region 10, encompassing the Asia-Pacific region.
