Observed on the Pratipada Tithi of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Kartik, Govardhan Puja marks the day when Lord Krishna lifted the Govardhan mountain to protect his people from Lord Indra’s wrath.
The festival is celebrated with elaborate rituals involving the creation of a Govardhan mountain replica from cow dung and the worship of Lord Krishna. Devotees also offer prayers for prosperity and protection.
This year, Govardhan Puja falls on November 2nd, with the Pratipada Tithi starting on November 1st at 6:16 PM and ending on November 2nd at 8:21 PM.
