Thiruvananthapuram: On the eve of Kerala Piravi, the 68th anniversary of the state’s formation, Kerala’s political leadership has called for unity, inclusivity, and continued commitment to progress. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, and Assembly Speaker AN Shamseer extended their greetings to Keralites worldwide.
The Chief Minister highlighted the challenges posed by the central government’s policies while praising the achievements of his government despite these hurdles. He acknowledged ongoing challenges, particularly in areas like boosting commerce, strengthening agriculture, creating jobs, and improving waste management.
Governor Khan celebrated Kerala’s achievements in human development, attributing the progress to the state’s values of inclusivity and social justice. He urged Keralites to promote the use of Malayalam and strive for a sustainable and equitable future.
Speaker Shamseer emphasized the unity among Keralites, highlighting the state’s resistance to communalism, extremism, and casteism. He attributed Kerala’s resilience in facing natural calamities to the solidarity of its people and encouraged them to continue working together for the state’s well-being.
Kerala Piravi, celebrated annually on November 1, marks the day in 1956 when the Malabar, Cochin, and Travancore regions merged to form the state of Kerala.
