**Rajamahendravaram, October 27, 2023:** The Andhra Pradesh government has announced the launch of a massive road repair campaign in the East Godavari district, aiming to rid the region of potholes. The initiative, dubbed “Pothole-Free Andhra Pradesh,” will see repairs across all constituencies of the district starting this Saturday.
The state’s Roads and Buildings Department is investing a hefty **₹12.69 crores** for the repair of **200 kilometers** of roads under their jurisdiction. MLAs from all seven constituencies will be present to inaugurate the repair works within their respective areas.
The campaign focuses on addressing major trouble spots like the Kadiyam-Jegurupadu road in Rajamahendravaram Rural, Rapaka-Chinakondepudi road in Rajanagar, and the Someswaram-Rajanagar road in Anaparthy. Repair works will also be undertaken on the NH-5 to Khandavalli road in Nidadavolu, the Chebrolu-Devulapalli road in Gopalapuram, and the Madduru Bridge-Chandram Road in Kovvur.
The state government has identified **1,338 kilometers** of roads under the Roads and Buildings Department, with approximately **550 kilometers** requiring repairs. Authorities have declared that the initial phase of the campaign will focus on fixing **200 kilometers** of the most problematic stretches.
In addition to the state-maintained roads, the repair campaign will also cover roads within the Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation and two other towns in the district, with a total budget of **₹1.25 crores** allocated for **1,020** repair projects.
The “Pothole-Free Andhra Pradesh” campaign is a significant step towards improving road infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for citizens in the East Godavari district.
