**Bhubaneswar, Odisha:** A search operation launched at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar on Saturday following a reported leopard sighting turned up empty. Despite a thorough search by forest department officials and local police, no evidence of a leopard was found.
The search was initiated after a woman working at the airport’s dump yard claimed to have seen a leopard in the area earlier in the morning. While pug marks of a jackal were discovered, there was no indication of a leopard’s presence.
As a precaution, the forest department has placed hens as bait in nearby trees. If a leopard is indeed lurking in the vicinity, they hope to capture it when it comes to feed.
This incident comes just days after the Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda and Biju Patnaik International Airport both received bomb threats on Thursday, which were later found to be false alarms.
