**Chennai, India** – Thalapathy Vijay, one of South India’s most popular film stars, formally launched his political party, Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), on Sunday, October 27th. The launch event, dubbed the “TVK Maanadu”, saw Vijay address a massive gathering of supporters.
During his speech, Vijay revealed that he had chosen to leave the film industry at the peak of his career to pursue a political path. He emphasized his trust in his supporters, stating, “I have thrown away the peak of my career, and I have thrown away the salary… I’m here as your VIJAY with a trust on you all.”
The actor also spoke candidly about his early struggles in the film industry, revealing that he faced ridicule for his appearance and physique. “At the beginning of my cinema career, I was told that my face is not good, I am not a great personality, my style is not good, even my hair and my walk were not good. They shamed me like this,” he shared.
Despite the criticism, Vijay stressed the importance of hard work and patience. He explained that he focused on working hard, waiting for opportunities, and ultimately proving his detractors wrong.
Vijay concluded his speech by expressing gratitude to his supporters, emphasizing that there would be no distinction among them. “Everyone present is close to me and holds a special place in my heart,” he said.
On the professional front, Vijay was last seen in the film “The Greatest Of All Time” and is set to begin filming for his upcoming film “Thalapathy 69,” directed by H. Vinoth. The film features actors Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and others. Reports suggest that Vijay has been paid Rs 275 crore for his role in the project.
