Mon Oct 28 06:20:00 UTC 2024: ## Americans Get an Extra Hour of Sleep as Daylight Saving Time Ends
Get ready for an extra hour of sleep! Daylight Saving Time comes to an end on **Sunday, November 3rd at 2:00 a.m. local time.** Clocks will be turned back an hour, giving us more daylight in the winter mornings.
This annual time change, designed to maximize daylight hours during different seasons, can disrupt sleep patterns and internal schedules, especially for children and pets.
While the Senate unanimously approved the Sunshine Protection Act in 2022, aiming to make Daylight Saving Time permanent, the House of Representatives did not pass it, and President Biden did not sign it. A 2023 version of the act also remained idle in Congress.
It’s important to note that not all states participate in Daylight Saving Time. Hawaii and most of Arizona, along with five U.S. territories, remain on standard time year-round.
Daylight Saving Time will return on **Sunday, March 9th, 2025,** when clocks will move forward an hour. Until then, enjoy the extra hour of sleep and prepare for the shorter days ahead.
