London, UK – Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne has revealed his surprisingly simple strategy for navigating life in the public eye: avoid eye contact.
The “Fantastic Beasts” star, known for his roles in films like “The Theory of Everything”, explained to The Times that he prefers to live a normal life in London with his wife Hannah and their two children. Redmayne, 42, says he enjoys getting around the city like everyone else, despite his celebrity status.
“I sometimes get stopped for photos, but the other choice is to travel everywhere in cars, which is bloody expensive and takes forever,” he shared. “You can either live behind gates or just pulverize through a bit. I can live a totally normal life, so long as I don’t make eye contact.”
Redmayne acknowledges that the moment he makes eye contact, people recognize him. However, he believes that fame is ultimately what you make of it.
