**Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh:** A young man tragically lost his life after being hit by a tractor in Visakhapatnam on Saturday, while his mother’s desperate pleas for help were ignored by bystanders.
The incident occurred near the YSR Koodali-Goods Shed area when K. Gangadhara Rao (30) was getting off an auto with his mother, Govindamma. As he stepped out, a tractor struck him, leaving him with serious injuries.
Govindamma rushed to her son’s side, crying out for help and urging passersby to take him to the hospital. However, many simply walked by, some even taking photos of the scene on their cellphones. While a hospital was only a kilometer away, nobody came forward to offer assistance.
The victim was left lying on the road, his life slipping away. It was only after a delayed response from an ambulance, which arrived an hour after the incident, that the man was declared dead.
The police have registered a case based on the complaint filed by Govindamma, and the deceased’s body has been sent for an autopsy. Gangadhara Rao, the youngest of two sons, ran a small pan shop near the railway station and was unmarried.
This heartbreaking incident highlights the apathy and lack of empathy that sometimes prevails in society, where people fail to extend a helping hand to those in need.
