**Visakhapatnam:** In a shocking incident, a young man died after being hit by a tractor in Visakhapatnam, while bystanders stood by and watched without offering any help. The victim, K. Gangadhar Rao (30), was on his way to a railway station with his mother when the accident occurred near the Goods Shed area on Saturday afternoon.
Gangadhar Rao was getting off the auto when the tractor collided with him. He sustained serious injuries and fell on the road. His mother, Govindamma, desperately pleaded for help, but the passersby remained indifferent. Some even took photos on their cellphones instead of assisting.
Despite the victim lying on the road with serious injuries, no one came to his aid. The nearest hospital, Maharaja Government Hospital, was just a kilometer away. The ambulance, however, took around half an hour to arrive, by which time Gangadhar Rao had succumbed to his injuries.
Govindamma, distraught by the incident, reported the matter to the police. An investigation has been launched and a case has been registered based on her complaint. The victim was unmarried and ran a small pan shop near the railway station.
This incident highlights the growing apathy and indifference towards others in society. It is disheartening to witness such a lack of empathy and compassion in the face of tragedy.
