**Secunderabad, Telangana:** A case has been registered at a Secunderabad police station following the desecration of a religious idol at the Muthyalamma Temple in Kummariguda. The incident, which occurred on October 14th, has sparked widespread outrage and ignited a heated political debate.

Local residents discovered the vandalized idol of Goddess Durga, the temple deity, on the morning of the 14th. A suspect, believed to be responsible for the act, was apprehended by residents and handed over to the Market Police Station.

The FIR, filed by 33-year-old local resident Chelmela Kiran Kumar, charges the unidentified suspect with trespassing, breaking and entering, obstructing public servants, fabricating evidence, offending religious feelings, and culpable homicide.

Police have confirmed the suspect is in custody and an investigation is underway to ascertain the motive behind the vandalism. Authorities are actively gathering evidence and questioning witnesses. Security around the temple has been increased to maintain order amid rising tensions within the community.

The incident has fueled a political firestorm with BJP leader Madhavi Latha and MLA Rakesh Reddy making inflammatory statements. Latha alleged the suspect, identified as Salam, was part of a Jamaat and had come to the area under the guise of Spoken English classes. She called for the demolition of a nearby mosque and demanded action from the Congress government.

Reddy, visiting the temple after the incident, launched a scathing attack on the Hindu community, accusing them of cowardice and lack of courage. He questioned why no Hindus had retaliated against mosques. These remarks have been met with widespread criticism for their inflammatory nature.

The investigation into the vandalism and the ensuing political rhetoric are expected to remain in the spotlight as authorities strive to maintain peace and order while seeking justice for the desecrated religious symbol.
