Pittsburgh Steelers fans are buzzing with a new trade rumor swirling around the team. Andrew Fillipponi, Steelers commentator and host of 93.7 The Fan, has suggested the Steelers may be interested in acquiring Carolina Panthers wide receiver Adam Thielen.
Thielen, a three-time Pro Bowler and former All-Pro, is currently on injured reserve with a hamstring injury sustained in Week 3. He is eligible to return in Week 8. Fillipponi believes the Panthers could activate Thielen and trade him before the November 5th trade deadline.
This isn’t the first time the Steelers have been linked to a trade for a wide receiver. Earlier this year, they reportedly attempted to acquire both Brandon Aiyuk and Davante Adams, but were unsuccessful in both attempts.
Fillipponi posed the question to Steelers fans on social media: “Should the team trade a 6th round pick for Thielen?” The rumor has sparked debate amongst Steelers fans, with some believing the team needs to acquire a proven veteran receiver, while others question the value of a 6th round pick in exchange for a player with a history of injuries.
