**Dubai, UAE:** In a shocking upset, South Africa has defeated defending champions Australia by 8 wickets to reach the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup. The Proteas achieved this victory in a thrilling semi-final match held on Thursday.

Anika Bosch’s powerful hitting (74 not out off 48 balls) led the South African charge, guiding her team to chase down Australia’s 135-run target in just 17.2 overs with two wickets in hand. Bosch, alongside Laura Wolvaardt (42), displayed aggressive batting, effectively dismantling the Australian bowling attack.

Earlier, Australia, batting first after losing the toss, could only manage 134 runs for 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Beth Mooney’s 44 was the only significant contribution for the Aussies.

The second semi-final will take place on Friday between West Indies and New Zealand. New Zealand, who have reached the final in 2009 and 2010, will be aiming for another shot at the title. Meanwhile, West Indies, who won the tournament in 2016, will be looking to replicate their success in 2018 when they reached the semi-finals.
