**JAMMU, October 16:** In a significant development, Senior National Conference leader Nasir Aslam Wani has been appointed as Advisor to the newly sworn-in Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah. The appointment was announced by the General Administration Department (GAD) hours after Mr. Abdullah assumed office.
The terms and conditions of Mr. Wani’s appointment will be notified separately. Notably, Mr. Wani lost the recent Assembly election from the Kupwara constituency to PDP candidate Fayaz Mir. He had previously won the 2014 Assembly election from the Lal Chowk constituency.
Mr. Wani’s appointment is seen as a strategic move by Chief Minister Abdullah, bringing in an experienced leader with a strong political background.
