Thu Oct 17 15:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Bomb Threats on Indian Flights Traced to London and Germany

**New Delhi, India:** Multiple bomb threats targeting Indian flights this week have been traced to IP addresses in London and Germany, The Indian Express has learned. Over 20 flights, both domestic and international, received threats via social media platforms, leading to security checks and disruptions.

Central intelligence agencies, working with Twitter, identified three accounts responsible for the threats and traced two to London and Germany. The users utilized VPNs to mask their online identities. Investigations are ongoing to identify the third account.

All threats have been deemed false, and authorities have initiated legal action against those responsible. This includes registering an FIR against those who made threats against Akasa Air, under sections related to unlawful acts against civil aviation and false alarms.

“The IGI Airport Police responded to seven incidents involving reported bomb threats. After thorough verifications and inspection, all threats were confirmed to be hoaxes,” said Usha Rangnani, Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI Airport).

The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) is considering stricter regulations and harsher punishments for those behind these threats, potentially including placing them on the no-fly list. They are collaborating with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the law ministry, as well as studying anti-hoax measures in other countries.

The incident has highlighted the potential for serious disruption caused by online threats and underscores the need for robust security measures and strong legal consequences for those who spread false information.
