Thu Oct 17 16:50:00 UTC 2024: ## Social Security Recipients May Receive an Extra Check in November

**Washington, D.C.** – Some Social Security recipients will receive an extra check in November due to a calendar quirk. Those who also receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will get two SSI payments in addition to their regular Social Security check.

This extra check occurs because SSI benefits are distributed on the first business day of each month. Since December 1 falls on a Sunday this year, SSI payments for December will be issued on Friday, November 29th.

However, this means SSI recipients will not receive a payment in December. A similar situation occurred in August, when they received two payments and no SSI check in September.

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has a calendar available online that outlines these unusual payment schedules. The SSA also advises beneficiaries to use the calendar for budgeting purposes.

Regular Social Security retirement benefits will be sent out on the usual schedule:

* **Wednesday, November 13th:** Birth dates between the 1st and 10th of the month.
* **Wednesday, November 20th:** Birth dates between the 11th and the 20th of the month.
* **Wednesday, November 27th:** Birth dates between the 21st and the 31st of the month.

SSI provides payments to individuals with limited income and resources who are 65 or older, blind, or have a qualifying disability. A streamlined application process for SSI is expected to be rolled out later this year.
