Wed Oct 16 19:10:00 UTC 2024: ## JoJo Siwa Defends Controversial “LadyGunn” Photo Shoot: “It’s Like Harry Styles Wearing a Dress”

Pop star and dancer JoJo Siwa has defended her recent “LadyGunn” magazine cover, which saw her sporting an embellished chest plate and fake bulge, claiming it was simply about “spicing things up” and pushing boundaries.

During an appearance on the Talk Tuah podcast, Siwa compared the photo shoot to Harry Styles’ iconic Vogue cover in 2020, where he wore a lace-trimmed dress.

“It’s like back in the day when Harry Styles wore a dress,” Siwa explained. “Obviously, wearing a bulge is a little different than wearing a dress, but it was just about having fun and experimenting with fashion.”

She continued, “I like to be for the people who are different, who don’t fit in and who are unafraid to take risks. I feel like being that person, I have to go as far as I possibly can into the risk.”

Siwa acknowledged the backlash she’s faced, calling it “brutal” and claiming some people are “just d—s,” but insists it’s important to push the boundaries of gender expression in fashion.

The “Karma” singer’s comments echo sentiments expressed by Styles in his 2020 Vogue cover story, where he stated that fashion should be about having fun and experimentation, with no limitations placed on gender.

“Clothes are there to have fun with and experiment with and play with,” he said. “What’s really exciting is that all of these lines are just kind of crumbling away.”

Siwa’s photo shoot, while drawing criticism, has sparked conversation about gender expression in fashion and highlights the growing trend of challenging traditional norms in the industry.
