**NORTHAMPTON, NH** – A fatal multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 South in North Hampton has resulted in two deaths and one serious injury. The incident occurred around 1:15 PM Wednesday between Exits 3 and 2, near the toll area.
Police confirmed that a car crossed the median from the northbound lanes into southbound traffic, ejecting the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene. A U-Haul truck then crashed into the woods, resulting in another fatality. The passenger in the U-Haul sustained serious injuries.
While authorities are investigating whether the two crashes were connected, the incident caused extensive traffic disruptions on both sides of the highway. All southbound lanes were shut down, with partial reopening occurring around 4 PM. Northbound lanes were also impacted, with the right lanes and left breakdown lane closed for a time.
“Traffic backups stretched for miles,” reported a spokesperson for the New Hampshire State Police. “We urge drivers to seek alternate routes and avoid crossing the median or using emergency crossovers. This is extremely dangerous and hinders our efforts to clear the crash scene.”
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
