Thu Oct 17 18:22:07 UTC 2024: ## Sri Lanka Clinches T20I Series Against West Indies with Dominant Win

**Dambulla, Sri Lanka:** Sri Lanka secured a resounding 9-wicket victory in the third and final T20I against the West Indies, clinching the series 2-1. This marks Sri Lanka’s first-ever bilateral T20I series win against the Caribbean side.

The West Indies, electing to bat first, struggled against Sri Lanka’s spinners. The hosts were reduced to 62/5 at one point, but a late rally from captain Rovman Powell (37) and Kudeesh Motie (32) helped them reach 162/8 in 20 overs.

Sri Lanka’s chase began with a blistering start from Pathum Nissanka, who struck 39 off 22 balls before falling. However, the foundation he laid was built upon by Kusal Perera (55) and Kusal Mendis (68), who both registered half-centuries. The duo steered Sri Lanka to victory in just 18 overs, comfortably surpassing the target with one wicket in hand.

Mendis was named Player of the Match for his impressive knock, while Nissanka was awarded Player of the Series.

The two teams will now face each other in a three-match ODI series, beginning on Sunday, July 20th at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.
