Wed Oct 16 01:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Hyderabad Bathed in Rain, Traffic Disrupted
Hyderabad experienced moderate to heavy rainfall on Tuesday, causing waterlogging and traffic jams in several areas. The downpour impacted areas including Secunderabad, Begumpet, Khairatabad, Alwal, Yousufguda, and Malkajgiri. Major roads like the Oliphant bridge in Secunderabad, Chilkalguda, Uppal, Punjagutta, SR Nagar, and Erragadda faced waterlogging, leading to significant traffic congestion. The Panjagutta-Ameerpet route was particularly affected, causing delays for commuters on their way to work and school.
GHMC and HYDRAA’s Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams worked to clear the rainwater and restore traffic flow.
The downpours weren’t confined to Hyderabad, with several districts in Telangana also receiving rainfall. Moderate rainfall was recorded in Narayanpet, Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri, Nagarkurnool, Nalgonda, and Adilabad, while light rainfall was reported in Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Wanaparthy, Kamareddy, Mahbubnagar, Rangareddy, Warangal, Jangaon, and Hanamkonda.
The Indian Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert for the next four days in Telangana, predicting thunderstorms and lightning strikes accompanied by gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph in isolated places in several districts, including Hyderabad.
