**Raipur, India:** In a move to bring cheer to government employees ahead of Diwali, both the central and Chhattisgarh governments announced increases in Dearness Allowance (DA) for their respective employees.

The central government’s cabinet meeting approved a 3% DA hike, bringing the total DA to 53% of basic salary. This news came shortly after Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai announced a 4% DA hike for state government employees, taking their DA to 50% of basic salary.

“The state government has decided to increase the DA by 4% to make it at par with the central government,” stated Chief Minister Sai, adding that this move is a Diwali gift for state employees. This increase will benefit around 3.9 lakh employees in Chhattisgarh.

The DA hike for both central and state employees will come into effect from October 1st. This marks the second DA hike in the year for the Chhattisgarh government, as they previously raised it by 4% in March.

Prior to the DA announcement, CM Sai met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. During the meeting, he briefed PM Modi on the state’s development efforts in the past nine months, focusing on key initiatives in agriculture, skill development, and education. He also shared details about the recent successful anti-Naxal operation in the state.

During their discussion, CM Sai expressed gratitude to PM Modi for approving the construction of 8 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He particularly highlighted the recent anti-Naxal operation in Narayanpur-Dantewada districts, which resulted in the elimination of 31 Naxalites. This operation is being hailed as the state’s largest anti-Naxal campaign to date.
