**Thiruvananthapuram:** Following a controversial meeting with RSS leaders, ADGP M.R. Ajith Kumar has been removed from his position as the coordinator of the Sabarimala pilgrimage. The decision was taken by the DGP, who appointed ADGP Sreejith, currently stationed at the police headquarters, as the new coordinator.
The decision comes after the Travancore Devaswom Board, the governing body of the Sabarimala temple, wrote to the Home Department urging the removal of Ajith Kumar.
Ajith Kumar’s meeting with RSS leaders sparked controversy, leading to demands for his removal from the crucial Sabarimala duty. The temple authorities expressed concern about the potential impact of the meeting on the security and smooth conduct of the pilgrimage season.
The new coordinator, ADGP Sreejith, is expected to take charge immediately, ensuring the efficient management of security and crowd control during the upcoming pilgrimage season.
