**Kozhikode, October 6, 2024:** A hunger strike by District Panchayat member M. Dhanish Lal demanding action against those dumping waste in the Poyya region has garnered massive public support. People from all walks of life, transcending political affiliations, have converged at the protest site.
The hunger strike, now in its second day, was inaugurated by KPCC Political Affairs Committee member N. Subrahmanyam. District Congress Committee Secretary E.M. Jayaprakash and District Panchayat Opposition Leader I.P. Rajesh also addressed the gathering.
DYFI Regional Treasurer C. Athul visited the protest site, showing solidarity with Dhanish Lal’s cause. The protest has highlighted the growing public discontent over the environmental degradation caused by irresponsible waste disposal in the Poyya area.
