**New Delhi, India:** Indian Test captain Rohit Sharma has expressed his confidence in young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, stating that his recent success at the international level is not surprising.

The 22-year-old Jaiswal has amassed an impressive 1217 runs in 11 Test matches, averaging 64.05 and striking at 71.67. This performance has made him the second-highest run-scorer in the ongoing World Test Championship cycle.

“I’m not surprised by how Yashasvi has adapted to international cricket,” said Rohit ahead of the first of the three New Zealand Tests. “He has real talent and the game to play in all sorts of conditions. Despite being very young, he has shown the capability to manage himself well in various situations.”

The captain emphasized the importance of Jaiswal’s continued development, stating, “It’s crucial how he manages himself in the next couple of years. He can do wonders for the team.”

Jaiswal’s strong performances have been evident in his recent outings. He scored 189 runs in the two-match series against Bangladesh and impressed against England earlier this year, amassing 712 runs in nine innings.

Rohit highlighted Jaiswal’s left-handed advantage, aggressive approach, and eagerness to learn as key factors in his success. He also praised the young batsman’s relentless pursuit of improvement, noting his “mindset to always learn and not being content with his achievements.”

With Jaiswal’s impressive form, the Indian team is optimistic about his potential to continue his strong performances and contribute significantly to their success in the future.
