Tue Oct 15 17:20:12 UTC 2024: ## Sri Lanka Level Series with Dominant Win Over West Indies
**Colombo, Sri Lanka:** Sri Lanka secured a resounding victory over the West Indies in the second T20I, leveling the series at 1-1. The hosts bowled out the Windies for a paltry 87 runs, achieving a 73-run win and setting up a thrilling decider on the 17th of this month.
Sri Lanka, after winning the toss and opting to bat, set a target of 161, with Pathum Nissanka leading the charge with a half-century. The West Indies batting faltered against the spin attack of Sri Lanka, with no batsman reaching the 20-run mark.
The spin duo of Dunith Wellalage and Maheesh Theekshana wreaked havoc on the Windies batting order, picking up crucial wickets early on. Theekshana, in particular, bowled a brilliant carrom ball to dismiss Alzarri Joseph, securing the victory for Sri Lanka.
“It’s an important win for us,” said Sri Lankan captain Charith Asalanka. “The toss was very important, and I’m happy I won it. 160 would have been a par score, and the openers set the tone for us. We want to win the series.”
Rovman Powell, the West Indies captain, acknowledged their struggles against the spin. “We have an opportunity to reflect on our mistakes and do well in the next game,” he said. “We are looking forward to the decider.”
The series decider is scheduled for the 17th of this month, with the first ball being bowled at 1330 GMT.
