**New Delhi, October 15, 2024:** The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the schedule for the upcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
**Maharashtra:** Polling will be held in a single phase on **November 20th, 2024**, with results announced on **November 23rd, 2024**. The ECI has set the notification date for October 22nd, with the last date for filing nominations on October 29th. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on October 30th, and the last date for withdrawing nominations is November 4th.
**Jharkhand:** The elections will be held in two phases. The first phase will be held on **November 13th, 2024**, covering 43 constituencies. The second phase will be conducted on **November 20th, 2024**. The notification date for the first phase is October 18th, with the nomination deadline set for October 25th. Scrutiny will take place on October 28th, and withdrawals can be made until October 30th. The second phase notification date is October 22nd, with the nomination deadline on October 29th, scrutiny on October 30th, and the last date for withdrawal on November 1st.
The results for both states will be declared on **November 23rd, 2024**.
The current Maharashtra Assembly, with 288 members, is scheduled to dissolve on November 26th, making these elections necessary. Jharkhand, with its 81-member Assembly, is due to dissolve on January 5th, 2025.
