**Mumbai, [Date]** – Veteran Marathi actor and comedian Atul Parchure passed away on Monday evening at the age of 57. He was battling cancer.
His demise was confirmed by fellow Marathi actor Jaywant Wadkar, who was rehearsing with Parchure for the Marathi play “Suryaachi Pillai”. Speaking to a news channel, Wadkar revealed that Parchure’s health deteriorated during rehearsals, and he was re-admitted to the hospital five days prior.
Parchure was known for his comic roles in Bollywood films like “Golmaal”, “Partner”, “Kyon Ki”, and “Awarapan”. He also gained popularity for his appearances on “The Kapil Sharma Show”. His contributions to Marathi theatre were significant, and he had also acted in several Marathi films and TV serials.
In 2022, Parchure had revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer after returning from a family vacation to Australia and New Zealand. He had undergone treatment, including surgery, and had expressed hope for recovery in a recent interview.
“I had a 5 cm tumor in my liver. Initially, I received the wrong treatment which further worsened my condition. I found it difficult even to walk. Doctors then advised me to wait for a month and a half before surgery as it could have led to complications. Later, I changed my doctor and recovered through proper medication and chemotherapy,” Parchure had shared.
He had also mentioned that the team of “The Kapil Sharma Show” had reached out to him, offering him a role as Sumona’s father. However, he was unable to commit due to his health.
Parchure’s untimely demise has left a void in the entertainment industry. He will be remembered for his comedic timing and versatile acting skills.
