**Mumbai, India** – Following the recent passing of Ratan Tata, his stepbrother Noel Tata has been unanimously chosen as the new Chairman of Tata Trust. The board appointed Noel to lead the philanthropic arm of the Tata Group, which holds a significant 66% stake in Tata Sons, the holding company of the conglomerate.
Noel, born in Mumbai to Simone Tata, Ratan Tata’s stepmother, has a strong history within the Tata Group. He has held leadership positions at Tata International and Trent, the retail division of the group. His contributions are credited with propelling Trent from a single store to a network of over 700 stores across India.
Despite his prominent role in the Tata Group, Noel holds Irish citizenship and is not an Indian citizen. He married Aloo Mistry, daughter of Pallonji Mistry, whose family holds a significant stake in Tata Sons. Their family includes three children: Leah, Maya, and Neville.
