Mon Oct 14 02:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Military Retirees and Disabled Veterans Get 2.5% Pay Raise in 2025

**WASHINGTON** – Military retirees and disabled veterans will see a 2.5% increase in their monthly paychecks in 2025, thanks to the annual Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) tied to inflation. This increase, announced by the Social Security Administration on Thursday, is determined by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which measures the cost of consumer goods and services.

The 2.5% increase, while lower than recent years’ COLA adjustments, is close to the average of 2.6% over the past decade. This means retired military members will see an increase of $25 for every $1,000 of their monthly retirement pension. However, retirees who entered military service after August 1986 and opted for the Career Status Bonus (CSB/Redux) retirement plan will see a smaller increase of $15 per $1,000.

Disabled veterans will also receive a raise, with their benefits increasing by about $4.28 per month for a 10% disability rating and $93.45 for those rated at 100% without dependents. Survivors receiving Survivor Benefit Plan payments will also receive the 2.5% increase.

The COLA increase affects not only military retirees and disabled veterans but also Civil Service retirees and Social Security recipients. The average Social Security beneficiary will receive an extra $50 per month due to the 2.5% increase.
