**LAHORE** – The Pakistan Shaheens, led by right-handed batter Mohammad Haris, are gearing up to face off against arch-rivals India in the Asian Cricket Council Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup. The tournament kicks off on October 18 in Oman, with the Shaheens set to face India A in their opening match on October 19.
The team, which includes first-time representatives Abdul Samad, Ahmed Daniyal, Yasir Khan, and Zaman Khan, will undergo a training camp at the Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre in Karachi from October 11 to 15 before heading to Oman on October 16.
Samad, Daniyal, Yasir, and Zaman have all recently showcased their talent in domestic leagues. Samad, known for his aggressive batting, impressed with a strike rate of 122.88 in the Champions One-Day Cup. Daniyal, a skilled bowler, claimed 10 wickets for Nurpur Lions. Yasir and Zaman represented Allied Bank Stallions.
The tournament features eight teams divided into two groups. Pakistan Shaheens are in Group B alongside India A, Oman, and the UAE. They will play their second match against Oman on October 21 and their final group match against the UAE on October 23.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals on October 25, with the final scheduled for October 27.
The Shaheens will be coached by Umar Rasheed, with Imran Farhat serving as the batting coach, Riffatullah Mohmand as the fielding coach, Usman Hashmi as the analyst, and Syed Mohammad Asad as the physiotherapist.
